微軟於美國時間 9 月 30 日於舊金山召開的發表會上宣布跳過 Windows 9，新一代的 Windows 作業系統將命名為 Windows 10。
全新的 Windows 10 將會整合 Windows 7 與 Windows 8 的特色與優點。
家庭與個人使用的版本，要到 2015 年年初才陸續公開，並於 2015 年年中後於市場正式上市。
